An international home decor shop featuring items made by hands in foreign lands then bought by "honest" middle men for consolidation, shipping and eventual sale in the developed world. When in East Africa, I had the chance to visit several government organized craft co-ops were craftsmen lived in hotels working for pennies to produce containerloads of "primitive wares" for sale to middlemen. I recognized East and West African woven grass, central American carving.
Were the craftsmen in the co-ops better off for this arrangement? Maybe but it is still exploitation accelerated by privileged guilt. I'm not a fan.

the woman working here is lovely. she has a heart of gold that radiates out of her. you can tell how much it means that people purchase the goods here and how hard the artisans put in the work to sell these beautiful pieces. I 1000% recommend. im definitely coming back to purchase a skirt here!! ;))

This is a beautiful shop tucked away in an indoor mall. Filled with African jewelry and crafts, at reasonable prices, and authentic. As someone who has spent time in Africa, it is so wonderful to see African art In Shipshewana!

This is such a delightful shop. Very unique, well-made items. My girlfriend and I visit Shipshewana every year and this is always our first stop. I am never disappointed in my purchases.
