Our family LOVES this bakery! We have multiple food allergies/food intolerance issues. We always get our desserts for parties, our wedding, and holidays from Desserts by Designs! Everything is so beautiful, fun, and insanely delicious on top of that! All our family members without the food allergies still eat the desserts too. I love these desserts! I’ve had the cinnamon rolls, chocolate chip cookies, dark chocolate cookies, pumpkin pie, and stuffed blueberry sweet rolls. All were amazing and all were vegan and gluten free!

I brought the pumpkin pie and stuffed blueberry rolls to thanksgiving this year and they were a hit! Two out of five of us at Thanksgiving have trouble digesting dairy, egg, and gluten. It was so nice to be able to eat the same thing as everything else and the desserts are full size so everyone had a chance to have seconds (some even went for thirds)!

The pumpkin pie had the richest, most perfect spice combination and the stuffed blueberry sweet rolls had people audibly marveling about how delicious it was!

It helps that the owner is such a sweet woman and really cares to give directions down to the smallest detail so you can rest assured that you will have a spectacular experience eating dessert ?

I missed pumpkin pie so much after I learned about my intolerances and now I don’t have to miss it ❤️ So thankful that this business exists!

I’m thinking of ordering a cake from her for my birthday and my uncle’s birthday (we have birthdays a day apart haha), so I’ll write a review about that after I’ve experienced it! I can’t wait!

Im a celiac with extreme sensitivity to even cross, cross contamination.. had absolutely no bad reaction to these any of the times I've eaten them. The food is addictively good! I cants stop eating the cinnamon rolls!

I have purchased cinnamon rolls, brownies, cookies, donuts,cupcakes, cake cups and apple crisp for my grandkids. I'm so thankful they can now have something they can enjoy and is also so beautifully made. My parents celebrated their 65th anniversary and I wanted a cake my 2 grandkids and my Mom could also have. I had a picture I wanted the cake to look like and it was not only delicious (they said) it was beautiful too. I will continue to use this bakery, I feel so lucky to have this type of bakery available in our area. As a grandmother I love the fact I can purchase such beautiful bakery goods and not worry about their food allergies.

Desserts by Design has such GOOD goodies! I don’t have dietary restrictions myself, but I love being able to buy such good desserts for a family member who eats a vegan diet due to chronic kidney disease. It is so nice to see her light up when she gets to have treats that are usually not an option, and we especially love the cinnamon rolls and Dutch apple pie. Desserts by Design does an amazing job of making desserts that are allergen friendly, but super tasty! You would never know that they’re made using alternate ingredients. They are THAT good!

My wife has dietary restrictions. She has purchased several items from this company at a near by grocery store, and has ordered directly from the owner as well. I tried each item that my wife purchased. These deserts are far far beyond what I could have ever imagined them tasting like! They are all so incredibly delicious! I have a sweet tooth the size of Mt. Everest, and I am here to tell you the treats from this company will blow you away! The absolute best part about it, you can eat and enjoy everything without feeling sick, due to them all being free of gluten, dairy etc. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this company!

I love being able to get delicious vegan desserts in town because those can be hard to come by. And the food we get is always so good—when we want cinnamon rolls these are our first choice at Hy-vee. All around I’m so happy to have desserts by design in Ottumwa 🙂

Cannot recommend Desserts by Design highly enough! Hands down the best gluten free treats we have found since a Celiac diagnosis. Do yourself a favor and try them all. Cupcakes, cookies, brownies, pie, they have all been delicious!
