This is where it all started for Kentucky! Charming small historic park in downtown. Picnic tables, bathrooms, street side parking and some visitor information. Accessible buildings were closed on the day of my visit. Enjoyed my lunch there and walked around historic downtown. I had full bars of Verizon 4G LTE Roaming.

Please stop and take a few minutes to learn about the birth place of Kentucky. Clean restrooms on site. Free parking on site. There is no charge to visit. There is a great backery across the street.

It was very pleasant! I went there with my sister. We walked around and saw that our 43rd governor was named Ruby Laffoon. That was interesting. We also stopped by the old log church and I had some pictures taken. They turned out very good. All around, it was very good and normal.

This was a wonderful experience. My only complaint would be that it would've been perfect if the gift shop attendant didn't start talking politics. That's not professional when your customers can have different views and you don't know. Otherwise he was a wonderful host and friendly. We loved it.

We visited a a Halloween Friday Farmers Market. We arrived early to see the square and buildings. A very important location in Kentucky history with nice reproduction buildings. Grounds are well maintained with rest room facilities. The market is not normally held in the evening, there were a few vendors and we did buy some cheeses , breads, and flavored butter. Vendors did have handmade crafts, cakes, breads, jelly, meat products, etc. Not many vendors, but this is not a regular event.

We will be back to see the other sites in town.

Been going through this place since I was a kid as a short cut to burkes bakery. I'd eat me some of their god tier gingerbread and tea and just bask in a much humbler time, when people made sense and we're not wholly evil like they are now. I'm glad they tore down the gallows, when I was a kid that creeped me out and scared the crap outta me. Of course it's a stage now... Which I think is much better than having a death machine loitering over your head. As a adult now, I kinda miss it as it had a story, but I understand why it's gone and they turned it into a stage. Just know what your actually standing on... The place is really old, time hasn't been easy on it (it's made mostly of log buildings, so duh). Hopefully they can keep this place safe from the crazy left who love destroying history to spite their feelings. Hang in there, they already tore down the statue of Ephraim McDowell because someone got offended... Sad times.

This is a great place to sit and reflect. There is history of Danville going back almost 250 years, including a courthouse and jail still standing after all them years. I took these pictures in hopes people may see something they didn't even know existed around here!

Sometimes I'm blessed by the places I visit and the people I meet. I stopped on a whim as I was passing by and I'm glad I did. I met two fantastic people who gave me the history of the square they told me the story of each building and I truly enjoyed the visit and enjoyed the history
