If you need an activity to base your trip to Lexington on, I highly recommend a tour of this beautiful historic home. There are many gorgeous details to notice, and elements that transport you to a different moment in time. The craftsmanship is truly impressive.

Our tour guide was very informative and knowledgeable.

Be prepared for walking, standing, and going up staircases. Plan to explore the garden and trail areas after the tour as well.

I walk at this estate everyday during my break and it makes my day every time ?
It’s a gorgeous break of nature in the city and the paths give plenty of options. They’ve taken beautiful care of the plant life and the other walkers are so respectful with friendly nods and smiles — it’s forever my favourite Lexington walking spot.

This was a nice place to visit while we were in Lexington. I have been to several "history houses" so they didn't do bad. I was surprised the grounds around the house were in desperate need of being cut. Once we got inside our guide did a very good job. I was a little surprised that this wasn't Henry Clay's house, it had been torn down by his son and later rebuilt with the same floor plan. The Lady doing the tour did a very good job telling the history of the house. Some of the layout of the house was really off. There wouldn't have been a Nursery on the first floor, the servants rooms wouldn't have been where they had the display. I am surprised that the Kitchen had been repurposed as another display and not the actual Kitchen. Also as usual the 3rd floor is not accessible and the basement was not set up for tours. I am sure it is difficult to raise funds to have the whole place available. I also thought their lead Historian would have had more things researched for the Tour Guides to present.

Our tour guide was excellent. She spoke fluently about every aspect of Henry Clay, the house, and his family. The craftsmanship of the home is a sight to behold. Learned a lot! The artifacts actually belonging to the family were wonderful to see. The rooms in general didn't all seem to be in their original locations but were still interesting. There were only two of us so we could handle the steep tour cost but we could have never afforded to have brought our family when we all used to travel together. That's a shame. It was fun seeing it decorated for Christmas but would have liked to have seen less guady decorations that would have been more of the time period.

Great tour with excellent info on a great statesman of his time. Hasn’t heard of him before coming to Lexington - thanks to Google Maps. Excellent interior in the main house with a great story and artifacts. Also liked the buildings outside such as the ice houses. We did book well in advance to get the tour that best suited our timetable. Would suggest doing that.

Beautiful mansion and grounds. Lovely old trees and lots of shade. We took our time and read every historical marker. I loved the ice houses.
